All Football Games Should Be “Home” Games

As most of you probably don’t know, I am a football junkie! My all time favorite NFL team are the San Francisco 49ers (and have been since the day I could say the word “football”, I have my dad and brothers to thank for that.) But when it comes to football, any game is a good game to watch! I watch football pretty much every night it’s on. Monday night football, Thursday night football, Saturday collegiate football, and of course the after church ritual of  ALL DAY Sunday football.

Which brings me to my next thought, for as much I as LOVE football, I’ve only attended two game so far this season. I attended the 49er vs Minnesota Vikings for their first preseaon kick off, and recently I attended the Oakland Raiders vs New Orleans Saints game – (to cheer on the Saints of course, who happened to be my second favorite football team) And although, I want to attend at least one more 49er game before the season ends…nothing beats watching a football game in your own home. Here are some reasons;

  1. At home, you don’t have to stand in line to pee.
  2. The average cost of a beer at an NFL game is $7.13. In your fridge, it’s about a buck. And it’s colder.
  3. At home, you will not get one of those beers accidentally spilt on you. (I can’t tell you how many times this has happened in the stands when a good play happens)
  4. At home, parking is free. At an NFL game, the average cost to park is about $28.
  5. The yellow first down line that appears on your TV screen. (You can’t get that at a live game)
  6. Your comfy couch. Have you sat in an NFL seat for three-and-a-half hours lately? – They’re not nice on your bum (yes, I just said bum)
  7.  At home, nachos aren’t stale round tortilla chips placed in a plastic tray with cold nacho cheese squirted into the corner and topped with a thinly sliced  jalapeno.
  8. Your DVR pause button.
  9. Your thermostat. (Beats freezing or sweating for that matter at a 3 hour game)
  10. When the game is over at home, it doesn’t take 90 minutes to leave.
  11. At home, you do not have to stand the entire time because the guy in front of you is in your view.
  12. And finally, there’s no need to memorize that “Need Help?” stadium text number on the scoreboard.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m the first to admit that I love going to a live football game as much as the next person, but in all honestly there’s nothing like the own comfort of your home, screaming at the TV while in your 49er pjs on your couch :]

Escape in the Music

Found this and fell in love with it (courtesy of google images)

I don’t know about all of you, but usually when I’m stressed or upset, I find myself going through different play lists in my phone, setting it to the shuffle setting, and just letting it play. It some how manages to help me relax and focus. Music is basically my escape.

Though more often than not, I escape in my music even when I’m in a perfectly good mood! (As I’m not always a stressed and sad person, I promise :)) But really, I put my music on while I’m at work, while I clean, as I write this post, while I drive (even if it’s a short 5 minute drive, yes I realize that a 5 minute drive is like a 10 minute walk, quit judging me), pretty much every task I do throughout the day involves music. The only time I don’t listen to much music is when I am at school. As I am not a fan of walking around with headphones in; 1. They hurt my ears, and 2. I like to take in all of my surroundings.

**SIDE NOTE** –  When listening to music while driving, it is perfectly acceptable (and encouraged) to sing as loud and as bad as you want. And hey, if you get caught by the person in the car next to you, bust out a few of your favorite dance moves that ought to teach them to stare 🙂

Now back to my point, I though it would be cool to share with you what I’m currently listening to, ignore the low battery percentage on my phone that’s just the story of my life…

All of these songs may not be the latest and greatest songs but in one way or another they’ve helped me get through the day 🙂

So what are you guys listening to? Are you one of those like me who consider music to be a fantastic way to unwind and de-stress?

My Guardian Angel

So most of you may not know, but a few weeks ago I lost someone very close to me in a car accident. That someone was my cousin Anthony. I am not writing this post for sympathy, I just thought it would be special to dedicate this entire post to him, as we grew up together and he was (and still is) very dear to my heart.

Anthony was the kind of person who you could just be around for hours! He always made you feel welcomed and important, even if he just met you. He was the kind of person who loved to make you laugh, and would do just about anything to do so!

Ant (as I called him) and I spent a lot of summers together growing up. Being that he lives in Sacramento and I live in Hilmar we didn’t get to see each other every day, but we were still close enough to visit often. It became a tradition for the longest time that every summer my mom and his mom (the sisters) would take us to the Cal Expo water park “Raging Waters”. We did this almost every summer that I can remember, so many fun memories there!

I have so many great memories of Ant and I, but instead of just reminiscing about them, I wanted to share some pictures of them (as they say a picture is worth a thousand words)

Ant and I in Disneyland 1994

We got conned into going to Sacramento’s “Fairytale Town” for my nephew’s 6th birthday…clearly we still had fun!

Remember how I said he’d do anything to make you laugh? He thought it’d be funny to hid and then jump out with his sweatshirt zipped all the way up and scare me…we still laughed about that!

So many memories! My friend, my cousin, and now my guardian angel!

In memory of my cousin Anthony Garcia, I love you!
