So just as the title of this post says, this is my LAST post as a student blogger, ever! 🙁
I am officially graduating. Yes, as some of you might remember last semester I walked/participated in the graduation ceremony, but I still had to return back this semester to finish up a couple of remaining units in order to obtain my degree. It definitely felt good to walk across that stage and be honored for all of my hard work and dedication, but after finishing up this semester, something about it just feels more surreal! As of now, I will never be a student ever again. No more tests, readings, studying, homework, nothing. It’s definitely a bitter/sweet feeling!
5 years ago if you would’ve told me that I would become a student blogger, I would’ve laughed and told you “not a chance”. I still remember the first time I got asked to be a student blogger, I was so unsure of the idea and (almost) against it. Lets face it, I was scared to put my student life on blast. However, looking back now, it was probably one of the best decisions I ever made throughout my educational career. I’ve learned so much through blogging. I’ve become a better writer, learned better marketing strategies, and have even discovered an inner creativity in myself that I never knew I had. Blogging has truly become a valuable tool for me, especially as I head into the professional career world!
Speaking of career world, I’m not really sure what’s next. These last few months I have been fully consumed in filling out applications and have even landed a few job interviews. However what I do know is, I’ve enjoyed being a student here at CSU Stanislaus and I can honestly say I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my family, instructors, advisors, and fellow classmates.
It’s been a wonderful experience being able to share my life with everyone as a Stan State student for the last two and half years, and I am excited for the next chapter…whatever that may be!
Welcome back fellow readers! I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break/holiday as much as I did! Thanksgiving in my family, means enjoying each other’s company, usually by playing board games, eating lots of food, watching the football game, and concluding the night with a movie.
This year my family’s Thanksgiving took place at my house, (or my parent’s house I should say) and it consisted of me, my boyfriend, my parents, my oldest brother, my sister in law, and my niece and my nephew. It was quite the gathering. After everyone got to my house, started the day off with some of our favorite board games and even a new board game called Malarkey. This friendly competition lasted about a good hour or two. Once we were all tired of accusing each other of cheating and all bragging rights have been won, we moved on to everyone’s favorite part; the food!
We all sat at the same big dining room table (minus the little ones who sit at their own “kids table”) covered in platters and dishes filled with our favorite food. Before we were able to consume any food, we all had to go around the table(s) and say something that we were thankful for. After dinner, we let our food digest by watching the Lions VS Packers game. My entire family are all huge 49er fans, but being that the 49ers didn’t play that day, any football game my family can watch is good enough!
Finally after we all got our fair share of football and pie, we gathered our things and headed to the movies to watch the second Hunger Games movie; Catching Fire. I LOVED it! I haven’t read any of the books, so I am more than excited to start reading them before the next Hunger Games movie comes out!
That pretty much sums up my Thanksgiving festivities,
What did you do for Thanksgiving? Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?
Hello my lovely readers! I hope you all enjoyed the day off yesterday, and were able to thank a veteran! Being that today is like my “Monday”, I just wanted to write a quick post letting you guys know to stay tuned, as later in the week I will be announcing something new to my blog! I hope you all have a great start to your weeks! :]
For today’s Motivational Monday, I personally needed this! Such a great reminder of what patience really is. Lately, I have found my patience being tested. Especially with this whole job search! Being that I will no longer be a student here after December, I will no longer get to work as a student assistant and will need to get a “real job”! A real job as in full-time, as in putting my hard earned degree to work! I’ve applied to many places, and have even gotten interviews…however, still no luck. I started to get frustrated and my patience seemed to be running low. With this whole job search, it has taught me to be more patient. Not just “waiting”, but staying positive while I wait for the right job to come into place. This journey has made me even more determined and even more faithful that something WILL come. As for the jobs I haven’t gotten thus far, I know that there is a reason! Everything will eventually work out and my time will come! So until then, I have no choice but to face this job searching journey with patience and with a positive mind :]
Have your patience ever been tested? Were you able to stay positive?
So this past Saturday was an annual event on campus called Preview Day. Preview day is for all prospective students considering CSU Stanislaus for fall 2014! This event showcased the academic and student programs offered here at Stanislaus, during the time that these prospective students are making decisions about where to apply for college. This year we had over 300 prospective students attend Preview Day, one of our biggest Preview Days yet!
Also, us student bloggers had our own booth showcased out in the quad! Me and another fellow student blogger Carrie, operated and managed this years booth! It was a lot of fun and couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather! There was also a photo booth on campus where students could take pictures with some fun CSU Stan related props! You know Carrie and I had to get in on the action…here’s some of our photos from this past weekend!
Working hard in the Student Bloggers booth!
All and all, it was fun and exciting to meet and greet with some future Warriors! If you attended Preview Day and subscribed to our blogs then you know that you were entered to win a pretty sweet give-away! We drew 4 names and the following people are our winners…DRUM ROLL PLEASE…
Congratulations to WILL INGRAM & JENNIFER OROZCO!!!! The other 2 winners will be announced on Carrie’s blog so check in with her blog post here to see if you’re one of our other winners!
On behalf of all of the student bloggers, we would like to thank all of you who stopped by our booth on Preview Day! We appreciate all of our readers/followers! Welcome to our blogs we hope you enjoy!!! :]
I want to start a new segment on my blog called Motivational Mondays! Blogs can have segments right? Regardless, I am starting this segment because 1. Mondays are usually pretty rough for most people and 2. because I’m all about promoting positivity and motivation. However, don’t get me wrong, I’m not always a positive and motivated human being…there’s plenty of days when I could use a motivational pick-me-up! So that’s what I’m hoping to do with this blog segment! Now on to the motivation…
Consider this quote the fuel to the fire of a great week! There’s been waaaay too many instances in my life when I have chosen not to do something because of fear. I sit around and contemplate all of these amazing things that I could do with my life, and instead I back down and let fear defeat me. The truth is, most opportunities in life can be scary, but being afraid to take on these opportunities will only destroy you. Hard work and determination is required to be fearless, and if you are fearless you can achieve anything! Let this simple reminder help guide your week–I know it will be guiding mine :]
Has there ever been a time when you guys let fear stop you from doing something??
